Dreamland

Theme Park App Concept

Project overview

The product:

Dream Land is an application for theme park Dream land. This app helps the user to discover theme park easily and reduce the time in the queues. Dream land app provides map that the user search rides and facilities in theme park and provide waiting time for rides. Dream Land app provide “Smart queue” and “Smart order” for food.

Project duration:

May 2022 to June 2022

My role:

  • User research
  • User flow
  • Sketch & wireframe
  • Visual design
  • low and high-fidelity prototyping
  • Conducting usability studies
  • Iterating on designs

The problem:

Many theme park users don’t have the access to facility information to find out where they want to go. They spend a lot of time to search the facilities or rides and waiting in the queue.

The goal:

  • Ensure that user find the rides and facilities easily.
  • Help the user to reduce their time on waiting.
  • Ensure that app has the access to theme park without physical ticket.

User research: pain points

Information

The user wants to know where the facilities that they needs are.

Time

The user spend more time in the queue rather than having fun.

Accessibility

If they forget to bring their pass, they have to come back to bring it,

Introducing the user - Persona

Understanding user behaviors - User flow

As I created a user flow I identified actions and decisions that the user must make in order to achieve their goal. After signing in/logging in I created two flow versions for new and old users.

Usability study: Findings

After creating low-fi wireframe and prototype, I have tested my app with users. I asked the participants of the usability study to complete the 2 main flows : smart queue for attractions and mobile pickup order the restaurants. After receiving feedback I iterated on my design.

It is not able to change from a list view to map view once it filtered.

User is not able to find their own location on the map.

User wants to see the route to go to the restaurant to pick up.

Refining the design

Finding 1

It is not able to change from a list view to a map view once it is filtered. To solve this problem, I added the icon on the right corner to access the other view on each page.

Finding 2 & 3

User is not able to find their own location on the map. As well as user wants to see the route to go to the restaurant to pick up.

I added the user’s current location in every map view. It helps the user find their location and how to get to their destination.

Accessibility considerations

Used icons to help the user to navigate easier.

Used detailed imagery for rides and food.

Used the map view to help the user to find out their location and rides and restaurant location.

Takeaways

Impact

The app makes users comfortable to enjoy the amusement park and do better time management in amusement park.

What I learned

I learned that usability studies are very important to make my view of project widen and see what I missed.
